In Spanish, “El Centro” means “the center.” It describes the vision that the City of Central Falls has -- to create a central hub to serve the City’s residents in multiple and layered ways. El Centro will offer spaces for daytime gathering space for senior citizens, afterschool programs for students and host civic groups in the evenings. El Centro will also be a resources hub for citizens experiencing various economic, social, or domestic issues in a wide array of vectors such as housing, food insecurity, medical care, landlord and tenants’ issues, domestic violence, and immigration.

The historic DeNevers Building dates to 1908, requiring a sensitive adaptive reuse plan that honors the building’s history while setting it up for public use for many decades to come. Take a peek at some progress photos of the conversion under way!
