CANstruction sculptures on display

March 17, 2014 - LLB Architects has teamed up with Fuzion Design and Shawmut Design & Construction to build a structure out of canned goods to help support Canstruction and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The structure is built from about $5,000 worth of canned goods and was inspired by a true Rhode Island tradition, Del's frozen lemonade, a symbol of growth, success, and happiness. Vote for the sculpture through March 19 and you could win a $100 gift card! Visit Providence Place on Facebook to vote by liking the image and emailing your vote to providenceadmin@ggp.com.

This year is the sixth event held in Rhode Island since 2007 and exhibits made by architectural and construction firms are on display from March 8 until March 21 at the Providence Place Mall Skybridge Concourse. The free exhibit, organized by American Institute of Architects Rhode Island, is open to the public during regular mall hours.

Canstruction is a food charity organization that holds annual design and build competitions to construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food. They partner with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, an organization providing food to people in need and promoting long-term solutions to the problem of hunger. RI Community Food Bank will receive a sizeable donation of food from the event, estimated at 20,000 to 30,000 canned goods.
